Breed and lock up animals just to kill them? No thanks!

The so-called gate hunt is the hunting of animals contained within a fence. The animals are chased by dogs and bands of drovers for hours and are shot at by hunters. The vast majority of people in Austria and especially Salzburg wish to ban gate hunting. Such a ban was already introduced throughout Austria except for Salzburg. Only in Salzburg locked up wild animals can still be hunted without any restrictions.

The signer calls for territorial council member Dr Josef Schwaiger to introduce an absolute ban on gate hunting Salzburg. The last active gate hunting area of Salzburg, that of Mayr-Melnhof is to be closed after a short transition period and the gate fence to be removed.
